Friends of Pajaro Dunes Publishes Bird and Plant Information
Birds of Pajaro Dunes Brochure The Friends of Pajaro Dunes have recently released the Birds of Pajaro Dunes. This handy flyer catalogs the birds that can be found at Pajaro throughout the year. Adapted from the Santa Cruz Bird List, the brochure identifies the 225 bird species that can be found at Pajaro Dunes. The bird list includes information whether the birds nest at Pajaro, details the habitats in five zones within Pajaro Dunes; and identifies the seasons when the birds typically visit. The brochures are available at the Nature Gallery and in both gatehouses. Various formats of the brochures are provided here:

Bird Cards Want to learn more about the birds and plants about the Last Mile? Drop by the Nature Gallery or South Gatehouse and buy a pack of The Birds and Plants of Pajaro Dunes, an innovative way to carry information during your walks along the beach and slough. Cards are $10. A pack consists of 45 high-quality cards in a convenient clear plastic holder. Each cards has a photo of the bird or plant with valuable information in the back. Collect them like baseball cards; play games with them like a game deck; use them as flash cards for learning; trade them with your friends. |
Interactive Bird Finder The Friends of Pajaro Dunes has accumulated over 100 species of native birds and plants and its database is continuing to grow! We have organized these pictures in a "point-and-click" catalog so that visitors can quickly locate a bird of interest.

Interactive Plant Guide We have compiled a list of native and non-native plants that you will encounter in the last mile. Like the interactive bird finder, the interactive guide allows you to select a plant from a set of thumbnails. Of course, we have a handy Plant and Bird Guide that you can print to carry along with you. |
